Resolution of Mac error code -8058 If the eject command is not working then try to eject from the key that is available in the disc drive, it forces the disc I didn't even have to delete the progress file. I did several things other forums suggested. My error was the same as yours but system.log indicated that it had trouble deleting a pair of backups from earlier today. Never overwrite the free space created after deletion of Mac files.
